This usually refers to the movement of stiff joints in the limbs e.g hip, knee, wrist shoulder,
but can also include movement of joints in the back or neck.
Joints may become stiff due to arthritis, spondylosis, whiplash, post fracture immobilisation in
plaster of paris, joint replacements such as hips, knees and shoulders and surgical fusion of joints.
All of these stiffness need to be moved to increase the range of movement to help
restore function and decrease pain. |
